Conservation Project

This year's Conservation Project we decided to join in on the St. Johns River Cleanup. This is a state wide event held on a Saturday each year where people from all over join together to help clean up one of our beautiful resources.

Our area of the river that we cleaned was under the Timaquana Bridge along Timaquana Rd. We didn't quite know what to expect until we got there. Thanks to the help of another Cub Scout Pack (whose number I cannot recall) and some students from FCCJ (Florida Community College Jacksonville) we were able to retrieve over 1500 lbs of trash including anything from Clothes and coffee pots to hyperdermic needles (in which the college students gathered up).

I realize some of you may be a little leary of the idea of the needles being around the boys, but all the boys in our pack that attended was accompanied by one of his parents and we were warned on what to possibly expect.

I do have some photos of the day and I will have them up on this page in the next day or two.
